At Vineyard Christian Church we are always inviting people to say 'Yes' to Jesus!
The Apostle Paul wrote letters to the early church which now make up most of the books in the Bible. To the church in the ancient Rome, he wrote;
“IF YOU DECLARE WITH YOUR MOUTH, ‘JESUS IS LORD,‘ AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED.” (ROMANS 10:9)
The same is true for us today! Believing in Jesus is the first step on the greatest journey of your life. To SAY YES is to believe that Jesus is Lord, that he died for the sins of the world, and that he defeated death and offers you new life?
Paul wrote this to the church in the city of Corinth;
“IF ANYONE IS IN CHRIST, THE NEW CREATION HAS COME.” (2 CORINTHIANS 5:17)
To SAY YES to Jesus means committing ourselves to Christ and receiving forgiveness of sin, total acceptance, and the gift of eternal life. Through His death on the cross, and through the power of the resurrection, Jesus defeated sin and death - He took all of your wrong and gave you all of His right. It means you can now be alive in Christ, a life that has the qualities of love and righteousness, joy and peace. It is all made possible through Christ’s work on the cross and the power of His resurrection.
Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples asked him how one gets to truly know God and this is what Jesus said;
“I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, NOBODY COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.” (JOHN 14:6)
When you SAY YES to Jesus, you begin a relationship with God. Jesus likened this decision to a “new birth” or better said today, a “do-over.” Jesus also talked about our first steps of faith being like a small seed planted but then begins to grow. To SAY YES to Jesus is only the beginning. Growing to become more and more like Jesus is a lifelong process for both individuals and communities of believers. God forms and transforms us. It is through God’s transformed people, partnering with God and others to help transform the world.
We encourage you to SAY YES to Jesus! Here is a prayer you can pray right now:
